Ethnic violence in Manipur raises civil war fears

New Delhi (Lord Media): The ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur has heightened fears of a civil war reminiscent of the 1990s. The Indian government’s incompetence and Prime Minister Modi’s silence are being blamed for the situation.

According to institutional sources, tribal conflicts in Ukhrul have resulted in the destruction of 50 homes and 20 fatalities. Tribal leaders in Manipur have expressed distrust in Modi’s Hindutva regime, announcing a separate administration.

Professor Ajailiu Niumai warned that the current conflict, exacerbated by the Modi government’s negligence, could prove more destructive than the civil war of the 1990s.

Local journalist Dhiren Sadokpam reported that extremist elements, under Modi’s patronage, are attempting to divide Manipur. The Chairman of the Hill Area Committee and other local leaders have voiced frustration with government policies.
