Lahore (Lord Media): Olympic Day is being celebrated worldwide today, with a special event organized by the Pakistan Olympic Association in Lahore. The purpose of this celebration is to highlight the importance of sports with the inception of the modern Olympics. The event was attended by gold medalist Arshad Nadeem, Olympian Faiqa Riaz, and other notable figures.
Quiz competitions on the significance of the Olympic Movement were held, which saw enthusiastic participation from athletes. POA President Arif Saeed emphasized the role of sports in promoting a healthy lifestyle, education, inclusion, and the values of the Olympic movement.
He stressed the need for Olympic Values Education to encourage youth in positive activities, stating that sports are not just about winning or losing but also convey messages of friendship, camaraderie, and life skills.
Gold medalist Arshad Nadeem expressed pride in participating in the Olympic Day event, stating that his future targets include winning gold in the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and World Championships. He advised young athletes to work harder.
