Dubai (Lord Media): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced new regulations to support female players, facilitating their return to cricket after pregnancy and maternity leave. The announcement was made during the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup in England.
Dr. Philippa Inge, a member of the ICC Medical Advisory Committee, stated that this initiative promotes the idea that childbirth should not mark the end of a female cricketer’s career.
The new guidelines encompass aspects such as physical rehabilitation, mental health, phased training, cricket-specific fitness, and continuous medical supervision.
Additionally, recommendations have been made regarding childcare, feeding facilities at venues, flexible training environments, and travel assistance.
Players like West Indies’ Afy Fletcher and former Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof have successfully returned after maternity, highlighting the importance of this initiative.
