Iranian president reaches Islamabad for state visit

ISLAMABAD, June 23 (LORD): Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday on a state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and Iran across various sectors.

Upon arrival at Nur Khan Airbase, the Iranian president was received by senior Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other government representatives. A ceremonial welcome was accorded to the visiting dignitary.

During the visit, President Pezeshkian is scheduled to hold meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The two sides are expected to discuss a wide range of issues, including trade, energy cooperation, regional security, border management, and people-to-people exchanges.

The visit comes at a time when Pakistan and Iran are seeking to deepen economic engagement and strengthen cooperation on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

According to officials, several agreements and memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed during the visit to promote collaboration in key sectors and further expand bilateral ties.

Pakistan and Iran share longstanding historical, cultural, and religious links, and both countries have repeatedly expressed their commitment to enhancing cooperation for regional peace, stability, and economic development.

The visit is also being viewed as an opportunity for the two neighboring countries to review progress on ongoing bilateral initiatives and explore new avenues of partnership.
