Doha (Lord Media): A factory explosion in Qatar’s industrial city of Ras Laffan has left 54 people injured and 18 missing, according to the Qatari Ministry of Interior. The explosion occurred on Sunday due to a technical fault, and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the missing individuals.
Qatar Energy stated that the incident happened during the resumption of operations at the Barzan Local Gas Supply Facility, resulting in an explosion and fire. The Ministry of Interior confirmed that the explosion was internal, with no release of gas or hazardous materials.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing flames and clouds of smoke visible for several kilometers after the explosion. Ras Laffan is one of the world’s major liquefied natural gas hubs.
