Washington (Lord Media): The United States employed methods similar to Iran’s sanctions evasion tactics to continue oil exports from Gulf countries during the Strait of Hormuz blockade, a Reuters report reveals.
According to the report, the US established a clandestine ship-to-ship oil transfer network, where small tankers transported oil to specific locations near the Strait of Hormuz, transferring it to larger vessels. This technique mirrors those used by Iran during sanctions.
The operation began in early May 2026 and involved at least 92 ships. Satellite images and shipping data showed secret hubs were set up near the UAE’s Fujairah coast and Oman’s Sohar port.
Some ships turned off their identification transponder systems and traveled with limited lighting at night, tactics associated with Iran’s “shadow fleet.” The US military guided these convoys using drones, helicopters, and other surveillance methods.
Sources indicate that millions of barrels of oil were transported daily from the Persian Gulf to global markets to mitigate the crisis caused by the Strait of Hormuz blockade.
