Islamabad (Lord Media): The government plans to borrow over 6.779 trillion rupees in the fiscal year 2026-27, according to federal budget documents. The documents reveal that over 8.054 trillion rupees will be paid as interest on existing loans, with 6.983 trillion rupees allocated for domestic loans and approximately 1.071 trillion rupees for foreign loans.
The budget documents indicate that the federal government will secure 574 billion rupees in project loans and grants, while 418 billion rupees will be obtained as foreign loans in the form of program loans. An additional 5.542 trillion rupees in loans is also planned to meet other financial needs.
According to the documents, it is expected that 31 billion rupees will be received as external grants in the upcoming fiscal year.
