17 bn USD proposed for National Assembly budget

Islamabad (Lord Media): The upcoming fiscal year’s budget proposes an allocation of 17 billion U.S. dollars for the National Assembly, marking an increase of 700 million U.S. dollars compared to the current year. A total of 5.35 billion U.S. dollars will be spent on salaries and perks for assembly members.

According to budget documents, there is no proposed increase in the budget for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, while 390 million U.S. dollars are suggested for their office expenses.

A sum of 9.24 billion U.S. dollars is allocated for salaries and allowances of the National Assembly Secretariat employees.

For Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai and his chamber staff, more than 80 million U.S. dollars are proposed, while 168.9 million U.S. dollars are recommended for the chairpersons of the National Assembly’s standing committees.

The budget documents also include a proposal to allocate over 500 million U.S. dollars for the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services.
