Defense prioritized in 2026-27 federal budget

Islamabad (Lord Media): The Federal Minister for Finance has declared national defense as the government’s top priority in the 2026-27 federal budget, allocating 3 trillion rupees to effectively meet national security requirements.

The Finance Minister informed the House that a total of 1 trillion rupees have been allocated for the federal government and the Public Sector Development Program, which will be used to implement development projects across the country.

According to the budget, the total estimated expenditure of the federal government is 18.771 trillion rupees, with the largest portion of 8.054 trillion rupees earmarked for debt servicing.

An amount of 1.071 trillion rupees has been set aside for the expenses of the civil administration, and 1.169 trillion rupees for pensions of government employees.

For public relief in electricity and other sectors, subsidies amounting to 1.091 trillion rupees have been allocated. The government states that this budget is designed with a focus on national security, economic stability, and achieving developmental goals.
