Chilas (Lord Media): Chief Election Commissioner of Gilgit-Baltistan, Raja Shahbaz Khan, announced that the 2026 Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections have been completed peacefully, and the finalization of election results is underway. He stated that Form 49 for five constituencies has been issued, while results for other constituencies are still being compiled.
Raja Shahbaz Khan further mentioned that re-polling orders have been issued for five constituencies in Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure the transparency of the electoral process. He also informed that hearings on three out of nine election-related petitions have been completed, with the remaining hearings scheduled for Friday.
According to the Chief Election Commissioner, receiving election results from remote areas will take some time, but it is a legal requirement under Section 98 of the Election Act to issue the final notification within 14 days from the polling day. He assured that all procedures will be completed in accordance with the law.
