Pakistan’s livestock sector grows 3.8% in 2025-26

Islamabad (Lord Media): Pakistan’s livestock sector recorded a growth rate of 3.8% in the fiscal year 2025-26, according to the Economic Survey. The fisheries sector saw a growth of 1.7%, while the number of cows increased by 8%, reaching 61.96 million.

The Economic Survey also reported a 3% annual increase in the number of buffaloes, surpassing 49.1 million. The sheep population grew by 2%, reaching 33.5 million.

Goat numbers rose by 2.7% annually, resulting in a total of 91.8 million. The total number of camels remained at 1.2 million, while horses numbered 400,000.

The survey further indicated that the number of mules increased by 1.8%, reaching 200,000, while the donkey population grew by 1.9% annually, totaling 6.16 million.

The federal budget will be presented in the National Assembly at 3 PM on June 12, with a potential reduction in duties on imported items like makeup, perfume, branded apparel, and personal care products.
