Meerut (Lord Media): An alert from Meta saved a teenager’s life in India after he attempted suicide via an Instagram post. Police reported that a young man from Sardhana posted a video on Instagram showing him drinking a white liquid, captioned ‘Now you be happy in your life.’
According to police, Meta sent an alert about the suicide attempt to the police headquarters’ social media center at 6:53 PM. Following the directive of the Director General of Police, the center immediately informed Meerut police based on the youth’s mobile and location details.
A police team quickly reached the young man’s home, finding him in critical condition. With family assistance, he was transported to a hospital where medical aid saved his life.
The teenager told police he was under mental stress following a breakup, which led him to attempt suicide.
Police stated that since 2022, collaboration with Meta has enabled prompt action on suicide-related posts, saving over 3,000 lives from January 1, 2023, to May 31, 2026.
