Indian actor Amit Behl has revealed an incident involving Akshaye Khanna, saying the Bollywood star once strongly confronted a producer after a fellow actor was stopped from eating with the main cast and crew.
Speaking during an interview, Amit Behl said a character actor who was staying at a separate hotel had come to Akshaye Khanna’s hotel for lunch during a film shoot.
According to him, the actor had barely started eating when the producer’s wife or a relative noticed him and reportedly objected, saying he was not part of the group and should not be eating there.
Amit Behl said members of the production team also asked the actor to stop eating, after which he quietly moved his plate aside and sat down feeling hurt and embarrassed.
He recalled that Akshaye Khanna witnessed the situation from a distance and immediately intervened.
According to Amit Behl, Akshaye criticised the producer and crew in strong words and reminded them about the importance of dignity and humanity.
“Films are not made by plates of food or expensive arrangements, but by people’s prayers,” Akshaye Khanna reportedly said during the confrontation.
Amit Behl added that the incident showed how sensitive and caring Akshaye Khanna was toward fellow actors and colleagues working in the industry.
