Bangladesh charges four in cricket corruption probe

Bangladesh Cricket Board has charged four individuals, including a local cricketer, over alleged corruption and betting-related activities linked to the 2025-26 season of the Bangladesh Premier League.

According to reports, the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Integrity Unit initiated action under various provisions of the International Cricket Council Anti-Corruption Code following an investigation into suspected irregularities involving franchise-related activities.

A local cricketer associated with Chattogram Royals, Sameen Rahman, has been handed a lifetime ban after being found involved in betting-related activities.

Meanwhile, cricketer Amit Majumder, team managers Lablur Rahman and Rizwan Kabir Siddique, along with Touhidul Haque, co-owner of Noakhali Express, have also been charged.

The allegations include involvement in betting-related activities, attempts to engage in corrupt conduct, failure to comply with demand notices issued under Article 4.3 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, concealing or deleting relevant communications, and عدم cooperation with integrity officials during the investigation.

The accused individuals have been provisionally suspended and have been given 14 days to respond to the charges.

The development marks another significant anti-corruption action in regional franchise cricket, with integrity officials reiterating their commitment to maintaining transparency and protecting the credibility of the sport.
