PCB chief announces new venues for PSL 12

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced that new venues will be included in the next edition of the Pakistan Super League, signaling further expansion of the country’s premier T20 tournament.

Speaking to the media after the PSL final, Mohsin Naqvi thanked the people of Lahore and praised the exceptional crowd turnout and disciplined behaviour at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore during the high-profile match.

He said the passion and enthusiasm of cricket fans in Lahore was remarkable, adding that spectators supported both teams wholeheartedly and thoroughly enjoyed the contest.

The PCB chairman described Lahore as a “city of passionate cricket lovers,” stating that the energy inside the stadium reflected the deep-rooted connection between the public and the sport.

Mohsin Naqvi also acknowledged administrative challenges in securing approval for large crowds, noting that arrangements required coordination at the highest level. He added that while there were concerns regarding fuel consumption and logistics, there was also strong interest from leadership in facilitating the event.

He further stated that discussions were held with the Prime Minister regarding crowd attendance permissions, and despite logistical considerations, approval was eventually granted due to the significance of the event and public interest.

Looking ahead, he expressed confidence that PSL 12 would be even larger and better than the current season, with improvements in organization, infrastructure and venue expansion.

The PCB chief said the inclusion of new cities would help promote cricket across Pakistan and provide fans in different regions an opportunity to witness top-level cricket action live.

His remarks come as the PSL continues to expand its footprint and audience base, with growing interest both domestically and internationally in Pakistan’s premier cricket league.
