Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian on Wednesday strongly criticised the United States over its sanctions and blockade on Cuba, saying that fabricated excuses and smear campaigns cannot justify such measures.
According to Chinese official media, Lin Jian made the remarks at a regular press briefing in response to US accusations that Cuba was “allowing adversaries of the United States to conduct intelligence activities close to US territory.”
The spokesperson rejected the allegations and said China firmly supports Cuba in safeguarding its national sovereignty and security.
He called on the United States to immediately end its blockade, sanctions, and all forms of coercion and pressure against Cuba, describing such actions as unjustifiable and harmful to international relations.
