President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday witnessed the signing of three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Pakistani and Chinese entities in key sectors including desalination, agricultural technology and tea industry cooperation.
The agreements were signed during a ceremony held in Changsha, aimed at expanding practical cooperation under Pakistan–China economic and development partnerships.
The first MoU was signed between the Government of Sindh’s Local Government Department and Lucion Environmental Technology Group for a seawater desalination project in Karachi. The initiative is designed to improve the city’s water supply capacity. The document was signed on behalf of Sindh by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, while the Chinese side was represented by company chairman Yuhui.
The second agreement focuses on agricultural innovation and was signed between the Sindh government and Longping High-Tech Information Company. It was signed by Sharjeel Inam Memon and company chairman Chen Zhixin, aiming to strengthen cooperation in modern farming technologies.
The third MoU pertains to the tea industry and was signed between MESKAY & FEMTEE Trading Company, Hunan Tea Group, and Jiaolong International Technology. The agreement seeks to promote collaboration across production, trade and industry development, enhancing economic and people-to-people linkages between the two countries. The Pakistani side was represented by Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, while Chinese representatives included Hunan Tea Group Chairman Zhou Chongwang and Jiaolong International Chairman Hao Jiaolong.
Senior officials including Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, Chief Secretary Sindh Ali Hassan Barohi, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi were also present at the ceremony.
The agreements underscore growing bilateral cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture and trade between Pakistan and China.
