Veteran Pakistani actress Reema Khan has shared an interesting account of her stage performance in London alongside Bollywood stars, revealing that she agreed to perform with Shah Rukh Khan under two specific conditions.
Speaking during a recent podcast, Reema Khan reflected on her career, including her experience of working internationally. She recalled sharing the stage with Humayun Saeed, Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta during a performance in London.
Recounting her first interaction, the actress said Shah Rukh Khan approached her politely, introducing himself with “Adaab.” She admitted feeling embarrassed for not greeting him first, explaining that she did not want to disturb him. Shortly afterwards, Preity Zinta joined them, warmly embraced her and invited her to rehearse together, leading to friendly conversations about Pakistan and India.
Reema Khan described the experience of performing with Shah Rukh Khan as one of the most memorable moments of her career, highlighting the mutual respect and affection shared among artists across borders.
However, she revealed that she placed two conditions before agreeing to the performance. The first was related to her attire. When informed that she would be given a designer outfit similar to one worn by Preity Zinta created by Manish Malhotra Reema declined, insisting on wearing a traditional shalwar kameez with dupatta to represent her cultural values.
Her second condition concerned representation on stage. She stated that if India’s flag was to be displayed prominently, Pakistan’s flag should be shown with equal prominence. According to Reema, she made it clear that otherwise the organizers were free to choose another performer.
The actress emphasized that while glamour was encouraged, she prioritized cultural identity and national representation during international appearances.
