Oman, Iran hold talks on Strait of Hormuz navigation safety

Oman and Iran have held talks to discuss measures aimed at ensuring the smooth flow of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz amid rising regional tensions, according to Oman’s Foreign Ministry.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the ministry said the meeting took place on Saturday at the level of deputy foreign ministers from both countries, and was attended by technical experts from each side.

During the discussions, both sides presented a range of views and proposals related to maritime security, which will be further examined in the coming days.

The talks come at a time of heightened regional instability following exchanges of attacks involving Iran, the United States and Israel, raising concerns over the security of key international shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
