Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has, for the first time, openly responded to his father Yograj Singh’s controversial remarks, expressing a desire to apologise to MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev.
According to Indian media reports, Yuvraj, in a teaser of an upcoming podcast, said he wanted to extend an apology to both Dhoni and Kapil Dev in light of his father’s repeated public statements.
During the podcast, Yuvraj was asked whether he felt hurt after hearing his father’s interviews. In response, he indicated that he had clearly told his father that such behaviour was inappropriate.
Yuvraj was a key member of India’s golden era, sharing the dressing room with cricketing greats such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan. He played a pivotal role in India’s triumphs at the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup and the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.
During much of this period, MS Dhoni served as the team’s regular captain, limiting Yuvraj’s opportunities to lead the side.
In the past, Yograj Singh has repeatedly held Dhoni responsible for this situation, often criticising him in public statements. Known for his outspoken and controversial views, Yograj had also claimed in a 2025 YouTube interview that he was deeply upset with Kapil Dev after being dropped from the team in the 1980s and had even gone to his house to threaten him.
He has also accused former Indian captains and players of harming Indian cricket through poor leadership, remarks that have frequently drawn criticism.
