Pakistan relaying messages in US-Iran backchannel talks, says Ishaq Dar

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Thursday that indirect talks between the United States and Iran are underway through message exchanges facilitated by Pakistan, dismissing what he termed “unnecessary speculation” in the media.

In a statement, Dar said Washington had conveyed a set of 15 points that are currently under consideration by Tehran as part of the ongoing diplomatic engagement aimed at de-escalating tensions in the Middle East.

He added that Pakistan is playing a role in relaying messages between the two sides, while “brotherly countries” including Turkey and Egypt are also supporting the initiative.

“Pakistan remains fully committed to promoting peace and continues to make every effort to ensure stability in the region and beyond,” Dar said, emphasizing that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path forward.

Earlier, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi had said Pakistan was in contact with all relevant parties regarding the Middle East conflict and would continue efforts to encourage de-escalation.

Speaking at a weekly press briefing, Andrabi stressed that Pakistan’s approach is guided by a principled commitment to peace, urging all sides to pursue immediate steps toward reducing tensions and resolving disputes through dialogue.
