China vows continued diplomatic push for Middle East ceasefire

China has reaffirmed its intention to play what it describes as a constructive diplomatic role in efforts to end hostilities in the Middle East, stressing that its mediation efforts will continue as long as the conflict persists.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said the spillover effects of ongoing regional warfare are increasingly affecting stability across the Middle East and beyond.

He said an immediate ceasefire remains both the expectation of regional populations and a central demand of the international community.

Lin stated that China has been actively supporting ceasefire efforts since the outbreak of hostilities, adding that Beijing will continue to coordinate with regional states and international partners to help restore peace and stability, particularly in the Gulf region.

Responding to questions on the situation, he expressed concern over rising tensions and their broader impact on international peace and security.

He emphasized that ending hostilities and achieving a ceasefire are the top priorities, while dialogue and negotiation remain the only viable path to resolving the crisis. China, he added, supports all initiatives aimed at de-escalation and the resumption of political talks.
