Islamabad entry points to be reduced from 109 to 25: Interior Minister

Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Friday, issuing directives to enhance law and order as well as civic amenities across the federal capital.

Authorities decided to gradually reduce Islamabad’s 109 entry points to 25 to streamline security and improve monitoring. The minister emphasized that the Red Zone must be fully functional, with practical enforcement measures rather than checkpoints existing merely as formalities.

“Strict monitoring at security checkpoints and entry points will ensure foolproof security,” Naqvi said, stressing the importance of visible effectiveness at all security posts.

The interior minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the capital, describing it as non-negotiable. He also directed improvements in services and facilities for citizens.

Assistant Commissioners were assigned responsibility for city cleanliness and anti-encroachment operations, with immediate removal of unnecessary items from major roads. Naqvi assured full administrative support for staff working to maintain law and order and promote the city’s development.

The meeting was attended by the Islamabad Capital Police Inspector General, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner, DIGs, SSPs, SPs, and all Assistant Commissioners.
