EU calls for talks to ease Pakistan-Afghanistan tensions

The European Union has called for de-escalation and dialogue between Pakistan and Afghanistan, expressing concern over rising tensions in the region.

The EU’s foreign policy chief voiced alarm over the growing wave of violence in South Asia and urged both sides to resolve their differences through negotiations. He also called on Afghan de facto authorities to take firm action against militant groups, stressing that Afghan territory must not be used against any country.

Meanwhile, Turkey has stepped in to help ease tensions, with its leadership engaging both Islamabad and Kabul in diplomatic outreach. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, followed by contact with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.

Separately, Iran also offered its sincere mediation efforts, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressing readiness to play a constructive role in facilitating dialogue between the two neighboring countries.

Diplomatic observers say regional engagement indicates growing international concern over stability in the area, as calls intensify for restraint and sustained communication to prevent further escalation.
