Full member nations enter final phase of T20 World Cup prep

Preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 have entered the final stage, with full member teams locking in their last fixtures before the global event kicks off on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka.

With the tournament now weeks away, no full member side is expected to add any further bilateral series to its schedule.

Pakistan will feature in six T20Is before the World Cup. The national squad will play three matches in Sri Lanka in January, followed by a three-match home series against Australia.

Several teams, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ireland, and Zimbabwe, will go into the World Cup without any competitive T20 matches beforehand. Australia, however, will play a three-match series in Pakistan, while England will play three T20Is in Sri Lanka in January.

India is set to undergo the most extensive warm-up phase. The home side will play a five-match T20 series against New Zealand in January, in addition to its ongoing home fixtures. South Africa are also in India for a T20 series, while the West Indies will travel to South Africa for three T20Is.

Across December and January, India will play a total of 10 T20 matches—the most for any team ahead of the World Cup. South Africa will play eight, while Pakistan and host Sri Lanka will both play six. New Zealand will take part in five matches, and Australia, England, and West Indies will play three each.
