Karachi has witnessed 806 fatalities in traffic accidents so far this year, according to rescue sources.
Of those killed, 632 were men, 81 women, 71 boys, and 22 girls. The sources also reported that a total of 11,596 people were injured, including 9,081 men, 1,815 women, 536 boys, and 164 girls.
Heavy vehicles were responsible for 244 of the deaths, with specific numbers reported as follows: 41 from dumper collisions, 95 from trailers, 56 from water tankers, 20 from Mazda vehicles, and 32 from buses.
Rescue officials warned that reckless driving and poor adherence to traffic rules continue to make Karachi’s roads extremely dangerous, emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement and public awareness campaigns.
