The Islamabad High Court has requested the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to obtain the law degree record of Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri from Karachi University, officials confirmed on Friday.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan scheduled the next hearing in the case for December 9 and issued a written order to formally summon the degree record. The court emphasized that the request is being made without considering merit and asked the HEC to verify and present the degree in court.
The order also directs Karachi University to send a competent officer familiar with the case to the Islamabad High Court. The court will review the authenticity of the degree record and determine whether the petition is maintainable before proceeding further.
The Islamabad High Court asked its legal assistant to assist during the next hearing on the question of whether the petition is admissible.
