In an interview with an American TV channel, Waltz mentioned that Iranian representatives are consistently discussing financial matters in negotiations. He indicated that Iran might be forced to alter its negotiation stance due to economic pressure.
The U.S. envoy sarcastically remarked that the Iranian leadership is currently more fearful of the U.S. Treasury Secretary. Economic pressure could force Iran to concede in negotiations.
Waltz claimed that the Iranian leadership is more concerned about the national economy, currency depreciation, and inflation rates. Iran is demanding access to its frozen assets abroad.
He noted that economic pressure and maritime blockades are increasing pressure on Iran. Iran maintains that U.S. sanctions are creating difficulties for its people.
