NEW DELHI (Lord Media): Crimes against women in India are on the rise, prompting concern from international media. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, over 80 crimes against women are reported daily on average in India.
Reuters reports that since 2010, crimes against women have doubled. In 2024, 29,536 cases of rape were registered.
Reuters noted that police and judicial apathy, along with the caste system in Indian society, have made life difficult for women.
Indian social activist Ranjana Kumari stated that delays in justice and the evasion of punishment have eliminated the fear of law among criminals.
Indian lawyer Karuna Nundy remarked that the government has never made serious efforts to eradicate hatred against women.
