ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): Federal Minister for Information, Attaullah Tarar, stated that the government aims to ensure no employee loses their job due to digital media. During a Senate Standing Committee on Information meeting, he briefed on social media advertisements, emphasizing that digital media does not require financial support and prioritizes employee welfare.
The meeting, chaired by Senator Sarmad Ali, reviewed expenses related to digital and social media. The Information Minister noted that the 2021 policy on social media was amended in 2022, and various provinces have adopted digital media.
Attaullah Tarar mentioned that FIFA World Cup broadcasts are currently exclusive to PTV Sports, which has achieved financial stability, with all major decisions approved by the board. He added that there have been no delays in salary payments to any PTV employee.
The meeting also discussed the film on the personality of Bulleh Shah. Senator Pervaiz Rashid objected, questioning how the censor board approved a film on a historic figure, calling for an investigation.
A report was requested on measures taken to address issues faced by pensioners of Radio Pakistan and APP.
