Iran signals closure of Bab al-Mandab

TEHRAN (Lord Media): Iran has indicated the potential closure of the Bab al-Mandab Strait in the Red Sea, following the restriction of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. Analysts suggest this move could increase pressure on Washington and pose a serious threat to global trade.

According to Reuters, Iran’s allies, the Houthi rebels, have threatened to close Bab al-Mandab if Saudi Arabia continues its attacks on Yemen. This could potentially drive oil prices up to 200 U.S. dollars per barrel.

Houthi movement member Mohammed Al-Farrah stated on Iran’s Press TV that Washington’s encouragement of Saudi Arabia to attack Yemen is not in America’s interest.

Analysts assert that Iran, by showcasing its strength, has expressed its intention to endanger Bab al-Mandab following Hormuz.

Andreas Krieg described the Houthi threat as Iran’s ‘second nuclear option’, suggesting that Iran would take this step only in the event of a major conflict.

Abdulaziz Sager, Chairman of the Gulf Research Center in Saudi Arabia, stated that Gulf countries perceive diplomatic limits with Iran as exhausted.
