MUMBAI (Lord Media): A cleric in Uttar Pradesh has issued a fatwa against Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s marriage to Gauri Spirit, citing objections based on Islamic law. Mufti Azam Maulana Chaudhry Ibrahim Hussain stated that the marriage is not permissible under Islamic Sharia.
In a video released online, Mufti Hussain explained that a Muslim man cannot marry a non-Muslim woman unless she converts to Islam. He further added that such a marriage falls under the category of sin, and people will have to answer to Allah.
Following the issuance of the fatwa, social media has been abuzz with various comments. This statement comes at a time when Aamir Khan had previously clarified allegations of ‘love jihad’ against him.
Aamir Khan stated that his family has always embraced other religions, and his wives Reena Dutta, Kiran Rao, and Gauri Spirit did not convert for marriage as these were court marriages.
Aamir Khan’s new wife, Gauri Spirit, hails from Bangalore and is associated with the beauty and wellness industry. She has a son from her first marriage.
This is Aamir Khan’s third marriage. His first marriage was to Reena Dutta, with whom he has two children. After their divorce, he married Kiran Rao, with whom he has a son, and they separated in 2021.
