ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced that the Marine Academy will be upgraded to a degree-awarding institution. He stated that consultations on all aspects of the upgrade have been completed and a summary has been sent to the Prime Minister.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhry mentioned that legal and administrative requirements related to the Marine Academy have been fulfilled. Upon the Prime Minister’s approval, the summary will be forwarded to the Ministry of Law.
He further added that the federal cabinet will give the final approval for the Marine Academy’s upgrade, after which the process of bringing maritime education up to international standards will commence.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhry expressed his commitment to providing skilled manpower to the shipping sector and continuing investment in human resource development.
Nadeem Mehboob has been given additional charge as Secretary of the Maritime Affairs Division, and discussions on dual degree programs with leading global maritime institutions are ongoing.
