LAHORE (Lord Media): A rejected lover attacked a woman with flammable liquid on Walton Road after she refused his marriage proposal, setting her on fire. The attacker also sustained burns. Both were shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
Chairperson of the Punjab Women Protection Authority, Hina Pervaiz Butt, visited Jinnah Hospital and met the victim. She assured the woman of justice and received a briefing from the Medical Superintendent, doctors, and hospital administration.
Hina Pervaiz Butt instructed the hospital administration to provide the best medical facilities to the victim and informed that a case has been registered at Factory Area Police Station.
The victim was on her way to enroll her 4-year-old son in a madrassa when the assailant stopped her and threw the flammable liquid, causing burns to her face, hair, and various body parts.
According to Hina Pervaiz Butt, the attacker had been married twice before. Harassment of women is an intolerable crime. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has sent a clear message that there will be no leniency for those who commit violence against women.
