Iraqi PM arrives in Washington for key talks

WASHINGTON (Lord Media): Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi has arrived in Washington on an important official visit, where he was welcomed by U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. The two leaders are expected to discuss bilateral relations, regional security, defense cooperation, and other matters of mutual interest.

According to international media, Al-Zaidi’s visit comes at a time when Iraq is striving to strengthen peace, stability, security cooperation, and economic ties in the region. Discussions will also cover the promotion of cooperation in various sectors and future strategies.

Reports indicate that cooperation between the U.S. and Iraq in counter-terrorism continues, with the agenda including the future of U.S. troops in Iraq, defense cooperation, and security issues.

Analysts consider Al-Zaidi’s visit a significant development for the relations between the two countries, with expectations of expanding political, economic, and defense cooperation. Meetings between U.S. and Iraqi officials will also address the overall regional situation, shared interests, and possibilities for enhancing cooperation in various fields.

Reports note that the U.S. withdrew its troops from Iraq in 2011 but re-established a military presence in 2014 to assist Iraqi forces against the extremist group ISIS. U.S. troops remain stationed at various locations, including the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
