RAWALPINDI (Lord Media): The inauguration of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project is once again mired in uncertainty, with the August 14 deadline now in jeopardy. Sources indicate that while construction on the main route has been completed, a dispute over the NOC for the service area has introduced a new phase of delay. The Lahore High Court is set to hear the NOC case for the 102 kanal 14 marla service area on July 16, making the project’s inauguration contingent on the court’s proceedings.
Reports reveal that six different inauguration deadlines for the Ring Road project have already passed, yet it remains inaccessible to the public. Due to the NOC scandal, five officials, including the former commissioner and deputy commissioner, have been removed from their positions. Rawalpindi’s new administration is awaiting the court’s decision and inquiry report on the matter.
Sources also mention that the role of various forums involved in granting the NOC for the Ring Road project is under review.
