Port Qasim safely berths LNG ship amid storm

KARACHI (Lord Media): Port Qasim Authority successfully berthed the LNG carrier ‘SK Resolute’ through a 49-kilometer navigational channel despite severe monsoon and adverse weather conditions. This critical operation followed the force majeure declaration by Qatar Energy for two LNG vessels due to regional tensions, raising fears of an energy crisis in the country.

Pakistan LNG Limited promptly secured a spot LNG cargo from a transit ship, and the Port Qasim Authority team conducted a sensitive maritime operation to safely guide the vessel to the terminal. The SK Resolute carried 171,951 cubic meters of LNG, marking the largest shipment handled at the PGPC terminal.

According to a spokesperson, this successful operation ensured timely fuel supply to the national gas and power system, enabling uninterrupted electricity supply across the country. Port Qasim Authority stated that this achievement demonstrates Pakistan’s capability to safeguard its economic and strategic interests.
