Monsoon rains risk insulin effectiveness

CITY (Lord Media): Monsoon rains pose a threat to the effectiveness of insulin for diabetes patients, experts warn. According to specialists, humidity can affect insulin’s potency, leading to uncontrolled blood sugar levels. Dr. Sameer Bhardwaj emphasized that protecting insulin from sunlight is not enough; attention must also be paid to high humidity.

Experts have identified three common mistakes in storing insulin: relying solely on special bags, storing insulin in the fridge door, and ignoring insulin potency despite no visible changes.

Dr. Sameer advised that if insulin’s effectiveness decreases, patients should assess its condition rather than increasing the dose. Experts recommend storing insulin in airtight plastic or glass containers and maintaining it at an appropriate temperature.
