Pakistan, UAE agree on pre-immigration clearance system

ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to implement a pre-immigration clearance system for Pakistani citizens traveling to the UAE. This initiative aims to streamline entry procedures and reduce waiting times at UAE airports.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed that a formal agreement will be signed, allowing Pakistani passengers to complete immigration formalities before departing from Pakistan.

The decision emerged from a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and a UAE delegation led by Director General Customs and Port Security Ahmed bin Lahij Al Falasi.

Mohsin Naqvi stated that with the new system, passengers’ immigration procedures would be finalized in Pakistan, enabling them to exit UAE airports directly, akin to domestic travelers.

Initially, the system will be piloted in Karachi, though the start date remains unannounced.

The UAE delegation expressed support for the initiative, promising full cooperation for its implementation, highlighting its mutual benefits.

Officials from both nations will collaborate to finalize the administrative and technical details for the pilot. Upon successful execution in Karachi, the system will expand to other Pakistani cities.

This development follows reports of challenges faced by Pakistani citizens in acquiring UAE visas over the past year. The new system is expected to enhance the travel experience and strengthen ties between the two countries.
