ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): The Senate Committee on Interior has unanimously approved a bill proposing an increase in the salaries and allowances of parliamentarians. The bill will now be presented in the Senate session for final legislation and voting.
The meeting of the Senate Committee on Interior was held where Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir introduced ‘The Members of Parliament (Salaries and Allowances) Amendment Act 2026’ to increase the salaries and allowances of parliament members.
According to the bill, former parliamentarians will receive free official blue passports, a facility extended to their spouses and children under the age of 28. Retired federal secretaries and their families already enjoy this privilege.
After detailed deliberations, the committee approved the bill, which will now be presented for voting in the Senate’s formal session.
