LONDON (Lord Media): Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has been signed by Trent Rockets for The Hundred 2026, replacing injured English bowler David Payne. The franchise announced on social media that Amir will fill Payne’s spot, who is sidelined due to injury. Trent Rockets extended their best wishes for Payne’s speedy recovery.
Amir expressed his excitement about joining Trent Rockets on the social media platform X. The 33-year-old has represented Pakistan in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20 Internationals.
Last month, Amir became a British citizen after acquiring a UK passport. He has previously played for London Spirit and Oval Invincibles in The Hundred, taking six wickets in eight matches.
In the league’s draft, Pakistani spinners Abrar Ahmed and Usman Tariq also found success. Sunrisers Leeds picked Abrar Ahmed, while Birmingham Phoenix signed Usman Tariq.
