LONDON (Lord Media): The renowned Bayeux Tapestry from the medieval era has arrived in the UK from France for the first time in nearly a thousand years. This historic artwork, crafted with wool threads, will be displayed at the British Museum in London.
The 70-meter-long tapestry was transported from France under tight security and a secretive mission. A convoy of vehicles, monitored by police, delivered it to London.
The Bayeux Tapestry depicts 58 significant historical scenes, including the 1066 Battle of Hastings, through intricate embroidery. It is considered an important visual record of medieval history.
The transfer of this historic artwork occurred due to renovations at France’s Bayeux Museum and is seen as a symbol of improved relations between France and the UK.
French President Emmanuel Macron described the transfer as a symbol of friendship and shared cultural heritage between the two nations.
British Museum Director Nicholas Cullinan stated that the tapestry’s arrival was an unforgettable moment for them. All exhibition tickets have already been sold, generating 2.5 million pounds in revenue.
The Bayeux Tapestry will be on display at the British Museum until July 2027, after which it will be returned to France.
