ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has revealed that night parties in major cities are significantly contributing to the spread of HIV. He stated that drug use at these parties leads to increased sexual activities among youth, raising serious concerns.
During a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights and Health, chaired by Senators Samina Zehri and Amir Waleeduddin, discussions were held on the ‘National Population Coordination and Reproductive Health Bill, 2026’. The health minister informed the meeting that the Prime Minister is seriously considering population control issues, with several meetings already conducted on the matter.
He further stated that the current NFC Award, based on 82% population distribution, incentivizes provinces to increase their population, whereas in neighboring countries, this ratio is only 17%. This indicates that provinces reducing their population face decreased funding.
The health minister noted that efforts by the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister have led to the removal of taxes on contraceptives in the current budget, which is expected to reduce the population by 150,000 annually. Pakistan sees the birth of 6.7 million newborns each year.
