US strikes 90 targets across Iran as tensions intensify

ISLAMABAD: The United States has targeted around 90 locations across Iran over the past two days, including air bases, missile launch sites and other military facilities, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the strikes were aimed at weakening Iran’s military capabilities related to maritime operations in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Health Ministry said at least 14 people had been killed and 78 others injured in the US attacks, adding that most of the casualties were military personnel.

Iranian state news agency IRNA reported that US airstrikes also targeted areas around the Bushehr nuclear power plant in southern Iran. Deputy Governor of Bushehr Ehsan Jahanian alleged that several locations in the province were hit, though no details were provided regarding any damage to the nuclear facility. The US Central Command did not immediately comment on the claim.

Iranian officials also accused the US of targeting key railway infrastructure, including the Aq Taqeh Khan railway bridge in northern Golestan province, which they said was part of an important overland trade route linking Iran with China and Russia.

Following the strikes, train services between Tehran and Mashhad were suspended, while Iran Railways arranged alternative transport facilities for passengers.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks as a violation of international law and described strikes on civilian infrastructure as a serious war crime.

Iranian Parliament Speaker and head of the nuclear negotiating team Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that any further US attack would receive a strong response. Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said recent remarks by US President Donald Trump reflected the failure of American policy.
