MASHHAD (Lord Media): Arrangements for the burial of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have been completed, with millions of mourners gathering on the streets of Mashhad. Iranian officials have stated that Ayatollah Khamenei will be laid to rest at the shrine of Imam Ali Reza, with preparations in their final stages.
According to Iranian media, 470,000 foreign guests from 27 countries are present in Mashhad. Earlier, a funeral prayer was held at the shrine of Hazrat Ali in Najaf, and the body was taken in a historic procession to Karbala, where millions of mourners gathered.
Iranian officials have clarified that despite recent attacks, no changes have been made to the funeral program. The first phase of the funeral took place in Tehran, followed by a prayer in Qom, and then the body was taken to the Iraqi cities of Karbala and Najaf.
Officials stated that despite the impact on rail connections between Tehran and Mashhad due to American attacks, the funeral program remained unaffected. The final ceremony was scheduled for 6 a.m. local time today but was delayed by eight hours due to the extraordinary crowd.
It is noteworthy that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was martyred on February 28 in attacks by the U.S. and Israel on Iran, leading to ongoing mourning ceremonies across Iran and the region.
