ZIARAT (Lord Media): In a protest move, the bodies of 21 police officers martyred in a terrorist attack in Ziarat have been transferred by their families from Civil Hospital Quetta to a sit-in on Hanna Orak Airport Road. The families have declared that they will not proceed with the burials until direct negotiations with the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Chief of Army Staff occur.
Demonstrators have vowed to continue their protest until their demands are met. During the protest, families and political party workers chanted slogans at the Civil Hospital before moving the bodies to the sit-in location.
Several political leaders were present at the site, expressing solidarity with the families of the martyrs. Protesters have emphasized that they will not end the protest until their demands are fulfilled.
Tensions between police and protesters were evident, resulting in injuries to some police officers. Security forces have claimed to have killed 15 terrorists involved in the attack during their operation.
Residents of Ziarat have also blocked the national highway and are participating in the sit-in on Hanna Orak Road. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to arrive in Quetta to chair a National Apex Committee meeting to discuss the security situation in Balochistan.
