ISLAMABAD (Lord Media): The Federal Ombudsman for Anti-Harassment has imposed a fine of 2.7 million rupees on five officials of a private company for harassing a female employee. The allegations included inviting her to meet outside the office, touching her hand, and failing to preserve CCTV records.
The complainant stated that the accused exhibited unprofessional behavior, invited her for meetings outside the office, and held her hand while showing product samples. Other accused took private message photos, made derogatory remarks, obstructed the complaint, and did not preserve CCTV records.
The Federal Ombudsman rejected the defendants’ arguments, stating that the complainant’s personality, attire, or social behavior are not part of the case. Evidence and witness statements confirmed harassment and retaliatory actions.
The court also directed the private company to reconstitute its anti-harassment committee within 30 days. Employers are responsible for providing a safe and respectful work environment for women.
