Cairo (Lord Media): Egypt has lodged a formal complaint with FIFA over controversial decisions in their pre-quarterfinal match against Argentina. The Egyptian Football Federation has demanded the exclusion of French referee Francois Letexier and others from the World Cup. The federation claims that serious errors by the referee and VAR led to Egypt’s exit from the tournament.
The Egyptian Football Federation has called for an investigation into the actions of the referee and VAR officials, urging their removal from the World Cup. It alleges that referees avoided video reviews on several occasions and made clear incorrect decisions. The federation insists that Egypt was discriminated against and that FIFA should conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
Following the controversial decisions in yesterday’s FIFA World Cup pre-quarterfinal, Egyptian players and coaches expressed anger towards the referees. In the match against Argentina, a goal by Egypt was disallowed by VAR in the second half, prompting strong objections from the Egyptian team.
In the final moments of the match, a confrontation occurred between Egyptian captain Mohamed Salah and an Argentine player, who brought Salah down, but the referee did not call a foul. This decision faced severe criticism on social media.
Egypt’s head coach Hossam Hassan also strongly objected to the referee’s decisions and lodged a protest. Subsequently, Argentina scored three goals in the second half, defeating Egypt 3-2 and advancing to the quarterfinals.
