24 arrested in crackdown on Indian Int’l crime gangs

Washington (Lord Media): In a major crackdown against Indian criminal networks, 24 suspects were arrested and charges were filed against 37 individuals across the United States, Canada, and Europe. According to U.S. officials, Operation Hardball targeted three Indian criminal groups involved in extortion, drug trafficking, targeted killings, kidnapping, and arms smuggling. During the operation, authorities seized 1,000 kilograms of cocaine, 1 kilogram of heroin, substantial cash, and weapons.

Assistant Director Patrick Grindy of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office stated that these groups promoted violence, fear, and instability within the Eastern Indian community in California and other areas. U.S. officials confirmed the arrest of 24 individuals and the filing of charges against 37 suspects.

The U.S. Department of Justice reported that among those charged are two suspects who continue to operate their global criminal networks from Indian prisons. Authorities are still searching for 10 fugitives, including one in Europe, seven in the U.S., and two in India.

U.S. officials revealed that the alleged gang leader, Lawrence Bishnoi, has been directing criminal activities from an Indian prison using satellite phones and the internet.
