Lahore (Lord Media): Pakistan Railways has faced delays in completing inquiries into recent train accidents. From the fiscal year 2025 to June 10, 2026, inquiries into over 31 passenger and freight train accidents remain pending.
High-level investigative teams visited accident sites, collected evidence, and prepared detailed reports, which were sent to the Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Railways, the Railway Chairman, and the Federal Minister for Railways.
According to railway sources, despite completing inquiries, no effective action has been taken against officers found negligent. Some inquiries were challenged, leading to orders for reinvestigation.
Documents reveal that inquiries in Karachi Division (12), Sukkur (11), Lahore (2), Rawalpindi (4), and other divisions are pending. Investigative teams have identified public railway crossings, faulty rolling stock, deteriorating infrastructure, and other causes.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Railways stated that inquiries are ongoing, and the media will be informed upon completion.
